The Major League Baseball Association (MLB) is considered the foremost baseball league in the world.

In 1903 the previously established National League agreed to recognize the American League, and championship teams from each league met in the first World Series.

There are currently 29 teams in the MLB, divided into the eastern, central and western divisions subdivided into the American league and National League.
